WGAL’s Susan Shapiro recently stopped at HARTZ Physical Therapy’s Lancaster office to discuss “texting neck” with Drew Nesbitt. “Texting neck” results from the persistant tilt of the head down which is becoming more commonplace as we spend more and more time looking at our smart phones. MEGAN SABOL PRESENTS ACL INJURY PREVENTION SEMINAR AT LANCO FIELDHOUSE, FEATURING THE “PEP” PROGRAM
Megan Sabol recently presented an ACL Prevention seminar at LANCO Fieldhouse using the PEP (Prevent Injury and Enhance Performance) Program as developed by the Santa Monica Sports Medicine Foundation. The PEP Program is a 15 minute training routine designed to replace the traditional warm-up and is specifically designed to decrease ACL injuries in female soccer players. It consists of a warm-up, stretching, strengthening, plyometrics and sport-specific agilities to address potential deficits in the strength and coordination of the muscles that surround the knee joint. BRIAN HARTZ HONORED AS CENTRAL PENN PARENT’S HEALTH CARE HERO
Brian Hartz was selected as the 2012 HealthCare Hero in the field of Physical Therapy by Central Penn Parent magazine! Healthcare Heroes is an annual awards program that honors the healthcare professionals among us who make significant contributions in the lives of families in Central Pennsylvania. The 2012 awards breakfast was held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey. The selection committee placed emphasis not only on changing the lives of patients everyday, but also on giving back to the community as a whole.
Brian commented, “It is a true indication of what my staff does as a team at HARTZ PT. I hope that they will take pride in the fact that they were the reason we won this award!”

Drew Nesbitt featured in media coverage about Vertigo
Drew Nesbitt was recently featured as an expert in vestibular rehabilitation in both television and print. Drew has a special interest in vestibular rehabilitation which treats symptoms of verigto including dizziness. Drew studied under respected leaders in the field and is widely considered a local specialist in this area.

HARTZ Physical Therapy Employees Swim Around Key West
On Saturday, June 23, 2012, Brian Hartz and Wendy Enck of HARTZ Physical Therapy achieved a personal milestone by participating in the 36th Annual Swim Around Key West. This is a 12.5-mile course that circles the island of Key West. A total of 85 individuals participated in the marathon swim (34 females and 51 males). Brian finished in four hours, 49 minutes and 34 seconds and placed fifth among the male competitors. Wendy finished in five hours, 28 minutes and 33 seconds to finish eighth in the female division.
Weather was a big factor as tropical depression Debbie loomed in the gulf. At the beginning of the race winds were blowing at 25 mph and water conditions were extremely choppy. Severe thunderstorms were threatening all day but luckily did not materialize until both swimmers were out of the water. Brian and Wendy each trained for eight months for this race which was extremely challenging both mentally and physically. Congratulations to Brian and Wendy!
Brian Hartz Inducted into Rider Science Hall of Fame
Brian Hartz was honored at an induction ceremony at his Alma Mater, Rider University, on June 6, 2009, as he was inducted into the Rider Science Stairway of Fame. The science departments of Rider University have conceptualized and created the The Science Stairway of Fame to honor individuals who were exemplary students and have acheived significant professional success in their chosen careers following graduation. The youngest inductee ever, Brian was honored with a framed certificate which will hang in his office in Lititz. Congratulations to Brian!

HARTZ Physical Therapy’s M.A.G. is featured in Newspaper and Television Articles!
On Tuesday, March 10th, HARTZ Physical Therapy’s Medically Adapted Gym (M.A.G.) was featured in the Lancater Newpapers New Era, Evening Edition. In addition, Blue Ridge, Channel 11 news visited the M.A.G. on the same day and featured a story about the M.A.G. program on their 10:00pm news. We are excited that word is getting out about this unique program which can help those who are looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle and appreciate the guidance of a medical professional in doing so.
