PRN Athletic Trainer

HARTZ Physical Therapy is seeking a PRN Licensed Athletic Trainer to provide as needed coverage at a local high school. (There are no guaranteed hours with this position, but the potential for up to 160 hours between approximately August 1, 2021 and June 10, 2022.) Candidates need to be flexible and able to provide on-call coverage Monday-Friday 3:00pm-10:00pm and some Saturdays as the need arises. The qualified individual is responsible for providing athletic training services at the site (local high school) under contract with HARTZ Physical Therapy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Current PA State License in Athletic Training
  • CPR Healthcare/BLS Certification
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151), PA Criminal Background Check (Act 34) and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participation in the coverage of school athletic events and practices
  • Recognize and evaluate injuries (within the scope of practice)
  • Provide first aid/emergency care
  • Determine the need for and administer proper athletic training techniques prior to and during athletic events and practices to decrease risk of injury.
  • Athletic training techniques include: taping, wrapping, bandaging, and bracing, proper hydration and minor wound care.
  • Keep detailed reports on injuries and documentation of care provided.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, athletes, parents, physicians, coaches, and all school personnel in a professional manner via verbal and written skills
