What Makes Avery Special
Avery brings a strong blend of clinical experience, leadership, and a genuine passion for helping patients get back to what matters most. A 2024 graduate of Slippery Rock University, he has spent nearly two years at CORA Physical Therapy in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he quickly grew into a clinic manager role while continuing to refine his skills in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Clinically, Avery has developed a broad skill set across orthopedics, sports, neurologic rehab, and vestibular therapy. He is especially passionate about vestibular rehabilitation and has become a go-to provider in this area, helping patients overcome long-standing dizziness and balance challenges.
Avery is committed to continued growth, with plans to pursue vestibular certification through the American Institute of Balance and deepen his expertise in this specialty. He also values giving back to the community through volunteer work and hopes to stay actively involved in outreach and injury prevention efforts.
Originally from Mechanicsburg, Avery is excited to return to Central Pennsylvania with his fiancée, who also works in the medical field. Outside the clinic, he enjoys biking, hiking, soccer, and photography.
Want to know more? Here’s a little Q & A…
Why did you choose to be a PT for your profession?
When I was fourteen years old, I suffered a hip injury while playing soccer and then subsequently went through 3-4 months of PT. After completing PT I felt so rewarded in getting back to doing the activities I loved that I wanted to share that feeling with others. This led me to begin my journey as a PT. Helping others get back to the things they love and making sure they can get back to their day to day is what continues to drive me as a PT.
If you weren’t a PT what would you be doing, especially if salary wasn’t a concern?
If I wasnt a PT, I would probably be a wildlife/landscape photographer or something environmental protection related. Both my parents work in environmental positions and photography is one of my hobbies so I would love to do something in that realm.
What energizes you at work?
I feel energized by those who come ready with lots of questions and are eager to do anything to achieve their goals. I love working with individuals who are goal oriented and want to learn how to maintain their progress once they leave PT.
What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?
A homemade sweet treat never fails to make my day better especially if it has chocolate and peanut butter.
Where would you be right now if you had zero obligations and money didn’t matter?
I would be traveling across the world attending each of the Formula 1 races and exploring each of the countries and cities where they are hosted.
What’s your favorite famous or inspirational quote?
My favorite inspiration quote is “Keep moving forward” from Walt Disney. This is a quote my dad always told me as a kid because the best thing you can do is not get caught looking back at what could have been or get hung up on a mistake. Rather it’s best to keep focus on what you can do next and make the most of every situation.
Do you have any pets?
I have a 9 year old cat named Chanel. She is the queen of our household.
Favorite Sport to watch? Who’s your team?
My favorite sport to watch is soccer and my favorite team here in the US is Philadelphia Union and internationally is Manchester United.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to someday run the Pittsburgh Marathon. I am only a casual runner and I have not done a marathon yet but this has always been a race that I really want to run.
What do you do for fun?
I love to play soccer, tennis, mountain bike, hike, ski, and do photography. I love being active and getting outside. I also really enjoy exploring new areas, restaurants, and coffee shops with my fiancee.
