Want to know more? Here’s a little Q & A…
What’s something that has surprised you about your chosen career path?
I continue to be surprised with how versatile Occupational Therapy can be. OT is present in many different healthcare and non healthcare settings, schools, small businesses, military branches, and so many specialties! It is so cool to see how one advanced degree can lead to many different paths within this field!
What energizes you at work?
I feed off of energy when my patients, their family, caregivers, etc show signs of progress – big or small! When a patient or someone caring for the patient can see improvements and/or progress, that makes all the hard work so worth it!
Most important advice you give your patients?
Please ask questions! In order to see progress, make improvements, understand rationale, we want to make sure you can see our thought process! No question is a silly question.
What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?
A walk in the sunshine, maybe with a coffee in hand too!
Where would you be right now if you had zero obligations and money didn’t matter?
Taking as much time as possible to travel with my friends and family. Traveling locally, but also far away and abroad!
If you could meet one person, living or dead, real or fictional, and have a conversation with them, who would you meet and what would you talk about?
I have always wanted to meet Tim Tebow. Tim started one of my favorite nights of the year, Night To Shine! I love how much Tim pours into those with unique needs and makes them feel like the center of attention! I would want to talk to him about how I could do something similar to Night To Shine, on a smaller and more local scale.
Do you have any pets?
I have a four-year-old, Lab and Pitbull Mix. He is the sweetest boy, loves kisses, pets, and all humans and dogs. He will never let a day go by without wanting to sit on your lap (he is not a lap size dog).
What’s your favorite tradition (holiday or otherwise?)
My favorite holiday tradition is helping my mom put up our ceramic, Christmas Village under our family tree around Christmas time. My mom has been collecting pieces to this village for the entirety of my life!
Favorite Sport to watch? Who’s your team?
We are a football family through and through! For college, I am an Ohio State fan. Don’t let this deter you Penn State fans…we can still work together! Maybe this will help – I am ALSO an Eagles fan! Go Birds!
What’s the first concert you ever went to? Or what concert would you like to go to?
The Jonas Brothers were my first concert ever, and I would hands down go regularly if money and travel were not in question!
How do you like to start or end your day?
I like to start and end my day with a walk with my husband and my dog! It is a great way to wake up in the morning and reflect on the day at the end of the day,
What’s something you’ve done, but you’ll never do again?
My husband and I hiked a volcano in Guatemala when we visited for a wedding. It was thirteen miles of challenging terrain, straight up and down! The hike was very rewarding when it was over, but I never need to do that again!
What’s your favorite meal of the day?
Breakfast! I would have breakfast food for every meal of the day – specifically bacon and French toast!
What do you do for fun?
I love to hike, go on walks, go on runs with my friends, and read as much as I can! Even better, I like to listen to audiobooks on my walks and/or runs!
