What Makes Maura Special?
Maura brings a blend of dedication, energy, and genuine compassion to the HARTZ PT team. As a former Division II collegiate field hockey player—and a National Champion—she knows what it means to work hard, push through challenges, and support others in reaching their goals.
Her strong academic foundation, capped by earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University, fuels her passion for outpatient orthopedics and helping patients return to the activities they love.
Originally from Salisbury, MD and now happily rooted in Lititz, PA, Maura’s warmth and positivity shine through in everything she does. Outside the clinic, she enjoys time with family and friends, hitting the gym, and unwinding by the beach.
Maura’s blend of athletic experience, clinical knowledge, and friendly, patient-centered approach is what truly sets her apart. We’re thrilled to have her on the team!
Want to know more? Here’s a little Q & A…
Why did you choose to be a PT/PTA for your profession?
I’ve always wanted to enter a profession that can make a direct impact on people’s lives, and I think physical therapy does just that! I enjoy the time I get to spend with patients and seeing the progress they make while getting them back to doing what they love!
If you weren’t a PT/PTA what you be doing, especially if salary wasn’t a concern?
I would probably go into interior design and coach field hockey on the side! I love being creative and enjoy house decorating and organizing!
What energizes you at work?
A supportive and fun team that I get to work alongside every day and getting to meet new patients every week and learning about their story!
Most important advice you give your patients?
Keep moving! Everyone’s level of exercise is different but no matter what, stay active throughout your lifetime.
What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?
Working out! Whether it’s early in the morning or later in the day, getting a good walk, run, or lift in always boosts my mood and helps me feel better both mentally and physically.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
“Get comfortable being uncomfortable”! My dad would say this to me during my collegiate athletic career to motivate me to practice and play at a pace outside of my comfort zone. This phrase has really stuck with me, it applies to so many parts of life and reminds me that success takes effort and persistence.
Where would you be right now if you had zero obligations and money didn’t matter?
Somewhere on a beach relaxing with my friends and family. Growing up on the eastern shore in Maryland, I was only 30 minutes from the beach so it will always be my happy place!
What’s one habit you’re trying to form (or un-form)?
I want to get back into reading and specifically create a habit to read before bed every night! Now that I no longer have to study or read for school, I want to get back into reading for fun!
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about my family and the relationships I build with the people I care about. I am very blessed and thankful for my support system and always look forward to family gatherings and being able to meet up with friends.
What’s your favorite place locally?
Fox Meadows! It’s a great lunch spot and they have the best ice cream (specifically — salted caramel chocolate pretzel)
What are your hobbies?
In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors, working out, shopping, and watching sports!
Favorite Sport to watch? Who’s your team?
Football – Baltimore Ravens! (Maryland is home for me so I’ve grown up a Raven’s fan)
What’s one item you can’t leave home without?
My phone and water bottle!
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I may not look it, but I’m a quarter Japanese! My mom was born in Japan, and my grandmother is full Japanese. One day I’d love to visit Japan!
What’s your favorite meal of the day?
Dinner – I enjoy my weekly staples, but we will get the most creative and try new recipes for dinner compared to breakfast/lunch.
What’s on your bucket list?
Go to Italy and Greece
