HARTZ Physical Therapy offers specialized Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation through our NeuroRehabilitation Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy programs for individuals living with paraplegia, tetraplegia, and both complete and incomplete injuries. Our Services
Recovering from a spinal cord injury requires more than healing β it requires relearning, rebuilding, and regaining confidence. Our Spinal Cord Injury specialists work with patients at every stage of recovery, from early rehab through advanced mobility training and beyond. We collaborate closely with your physician, care team, and equipment providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care every step of the way.

Treatment may include:
- Neuromuscular re-education β Retrain movement patterns, coordination, and body awareness around and below the level of injury.
- Wheelchair evaluations – If needed, our therapists can assist with wheelchair evaluations with a certified ADP for custom wheelchair seating – I would add this in!
- Transfer & wheelchair mobility training β Build safe, confident transfers and efficient wheelchair skills for home and community.
- Gait training & functional mobility β Where appropriate, work toward standing, weight-bearing, and walking with the right supports and assistive devices.
- Strength & endurance conditioning β Develop core, trunk, and upper-body strength to power everyday movement and reduce fatigue.
- Adaptive equipment & ADL training β Master tools and techniques for dressing, bathing, cooking, and self-care to maximize daily independence.
- Spasticity & tone management β Reduce muscle tightness, improve comfort, and gain better control of affected muscles.
- Home safety & accessibility planning β Personalized strategies and equipment to help you move safely and live independently at home.
- Skin integrity & positioning education β Practical guidance on pressure relief, positioning, and healthy habits to protect your skin long term.

Jamie is a physical therapist with specialized experience in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. She is passionate about helping individuals maximize independence, improve mobility, and return to meaningful activities through personalized rehabilitation focused on strength, functional mobility, gait training, and adaptive strategies.
Drawing from her experience in inpatient rehabilitation, Jamie has developed a strong passion for working with individuals with spinal cord injuries and enjoys guiding patients through every stage of recoveryβfrom early mobility to advanced functional goals in the outpatient setting.
Jamie creates individualized treatment plans designed to optimize function, independence, and quality of life. Her approach includes gait and balance training, transfer and mobility training, wheelchair skills, and custom wheelchair evaluations to ensure patients have equipment that supports their mobility goals. She values a collaborative approach, working closely with physicians, rehabilitation specialists, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to help each patient achieve their highest level of independence.

Kailey has 4 years of experience as an outpatient neurological physical therapist, providing one-on-one care to individuals with spinal cord injuries and other neurologic conditions. She is passionate about helping patients maximize their independence, mobility, and confidence through individualized, evidence-based rehabilitation focused on functional recovery and participation in meaningful activities.
Collaboration is central to Kailey’s practice. She works closely with physicians, occupational therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and caregivers to provide coordinated, patient-centered care throughout the recovery process. Above all, Kailey is dedicated to partnering with her patients every step of the way as they work toward achieving their personal goals and maximizing their quality of life.
Emily Beck, OTR/L | Occupational Therapist

Emily is passionate about helping individuals with spinal cord injuries maximize independence and participation in everyday life. She provides personalized, functional rehabilitation focused on upper extremity recovery, self-care, home management, community mobility, work, and leisure activities.
Using evidence-based interventions, adaptive strategies, and task-specific training, Emily helps patients improve strength, coordination, sensation, and functional performance while learning techniques and equipment to promote greater independence. She collaborates closely with physicians, physical therapists, caregivers, and other members of the rehabilitation team to support each patient’s goals and maximize quality of life throughout recovery.
