Chronic Pain Rehab β When Pain Won’t Quit, Neither Do We.
Have you been living with pain for months, or even years? Been told the tests look “normal,” bounced from provider to provider, or left feeling like no one really listened? Your pain is real β and you don’t have to keep white-knuckling your way through it alone.
HARTZ Physical Therapy offers individualized care for chronic and persistent pain β the kind that lingers long after an injury should have healed, or that never had a clear cause to begin with. Our therapists understand how pain changes over time, how it wears on your body and your patience, and how to help you turn things around.
Whether your pain started with an injury, a surgery, a health condition, or seemingly nothing at all, our team will meet you where you are. We build individualized plans focused on what matters most to you β moving with less fear, doing more of what you love, and taking back the parts of life that pain has crowded out.
Our Services
Chronic pain is different from a fresh injury, and it needs a different approach. When pain sticks around, the nervous system itself can become more sensitive β turning up the volume on signals that no longer mean harm. That’s not “in your head,” and it’s not permanent. Our therapists are trained to calm that oversensitivity, rebuild your confidence in movement, and help you do more with less flare-up. We work closely with your physician and care team to keep everyone rowing in the same direction.
Your therapist will help you with:
- Understanding what’s driving your pain
- Moving with less fear and more confidence
- Rebuilding strength, endurance & flexibility
- Calming flare-ups & managing setbacks
- Improving sleep, posture & daily habits
- Reducing reliance on pain medication
- Returning to work, hobbies & the activities you miss
Treatment may include:
- Pain neuroscience education β Learn how persistent pain works in plain language, so you can move with confidence instead of fear.
- Graded activity & movement retraining β Rebuild tolerance gradually, so you do more over time without triggering setbacks.
- Manual therapy β Hands-on techniques to ease muscle tension, improve mobility, and provide relief.
- Strength & conditioning β Restore the strength and endurance that chronic pain and inactivity have chipped away at.
- Flare-up & self-management strategies β Practical tools to handle bad days and stay on track without losing progress.
- Posture, movement & ergonomic coaching β Adjust the everyday habits that quietly feed your pain.
- Aquatic Therapy βFor some people, persistent pain makes traditional exercise feel like too much β and that’s where water can help. In our warm therapy pool, buoyancy takes the pressure off your joints and spine, so you can move, build strength, and rebuild confidence with far less strain than you’d feel on land. It’s an especially good fit if weight-bearing activity flares your pain or you’ve been avoiding movement because it hurts. Learn more about our Aquatic Therapy program β
A hands-on boost when you need it.
Depending on what’s driving your pain, your therapist may also draw on specialized hands-on techniques like Active Release Techniques (ART) and Astym Therapy to release tight muscles, break down stubborn scar tissue, and restore movement where it’s been restricted. These are tools, not cures on their own β but woven into your larger plan, they can help ease pain and get you moving more comfortably.
