Want to know more?  Here’s a little Q & A…

Why did you choose to be a PT/PTA for your profession?

I knew that I wanted to work in healthcare, but I don’t do too great with blood or needles. I really enjoy the relationships that you create with patients, the diversity that this job can bring and the creativity that you need to help patients reach their goals. It’s really rewarding to be able to help people reach their goals and improve function with what they enjoy!

If you weren’t a PT/PTA what you be doing, especially if salary wasn’t a concern?

I would probably work part time at a greenhouse or coffee shop and then find a way to turn thrifting into a job.

Most important advice you give your patients?

Trust the process. Physical therapy can be difficult as it demands a lot of time and can be uncomfortable but it is always worth the investment in your health. You will get out of therapy as much as you put in which includes getting proper rest, hydration, and eating a balanced diet outside of going to therapy. Most people experience setbacks and some discouragement but if you stick with the program and are consistent it’s all worth it!

What’s your most interesting/embarrassing clinic story?

One time, I had a patient who brought her harmonica into her therapy session and she serenaded all of the therapists and other patients that were there at the time. It was like a weird fever dream.

What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?

Some sunshine and spotting a new leaf on one of my plants.

What’s one habit you’re trying to form?

Getting up earlier. I’m not naturally a morning person, but I always feel so much better throughout my day if I wake up early and give myself the time to make a full breakfast and to get ready for the day.

What’s your favorite place locally?

I’m a big fan of Prussian Street Arcade; you never know what you will find there and I live nearby so I’m there probably at least once a week.  New Holland Coffee Co, Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse, and The Bread Pedaler are also top 10!

What are your hobbies?

I really enjoy thrifting; most of my clothing and furniture in our home is second hand. I love taking care of all my many plants, working out, perfecting my sourdough bread recipe, and spending quality time with friends and family.

What’s your favorite meal of the day?

Easily breakfast. I’ll take eggs, bacon, and hash browns any meal of the day really.

What do you do for fun?

I really enjoy doing anything outside with my husband, Seth. Hiking, geocaching, rock climbing, you name it. We have gotten into pickleball over the past few years, and we want to go camping a couple of times this year!
