We are please to welcome MacKenzi to HARTZ PT. Fun fact…MacKenzi was first introduced to PT at HARTZ PT when she was in High School. We helped her rehab after a field hockey injury!

Why did you choose to be a PT/PTA for your profession?
I knew I wanted to work in healthcare in some capacity because I loved learning about the human body and wanted to help people. I fell in love with the profession when I went to physical therapy for a knee injury in high school (at HARTZ PT!). I was amazed at how knowledgeable physical therapists are about the human body and the ability they have to improve their patients’ lives. I quickly realized that’s what I wanted to do.
What energizes you at work?
I am energized when my patients report that they did something they weren’t able to do prior to starting physical therapy. It brings me joy helping my patients get back to doing what they love!
Most important advice you give your patients?
On your recovery journey, focus on the small wins. If you can walk for even one more minute then you did last time that is progress! This will help you stay motivated to reach your goals and get back to doing the activities you love.
What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?
Rain! I find it relaxing whether I’m inside or outside.
What’s one habit you’re trying to form (or un-form)?
Right now, my goal is to read for fun every single day. I have gotten out of the habit the last several years and want to get back into it.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy being outside whenever I can whether it is running, hiking, or gardening. I also love spending time with family and being an aunt to my two nieces and nephew!
Do you have any pets?
I have a black lab named Bentley. He may be ten years old, but he still loves to go on several walks a day.
What’s your favorite tradition (holiday or otherwise?)
Going to get a Christmas tree at a local Christmas tree farm has been one of my favorite traditions since I was a child. I love the smell of pine and it reminds me of family.
What’s on your bucket list?
In the near future I would like to get my scuba diving license and hopefully one day dive with sharks.
What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?
In college I studied abroad in Australia. It was definitely worth the eighteen hour plane ride and I would go back in a heartbeat!
