The September Nominees:
Hope Served looks forward to a world where people of all abilities find hope, meaning, and genuine belonging with one another. We come alongside individuals with disabilities to provide hope and support through our initiatives of career development, housing opportunities, and participation in the local community.
The mission of LIFECYCLES is to build young men and women of character in a Christ-centered bicycle touring adventure experience for teens with a mentoring program to guide them into adulthood.
Trained volunteers from different walks of life help teen age boys and girls in challenging environments to dream and to achieve their goals with respect, dignity, and encouragement. Emphasis is placed on completing school and entering either the work force, a trade school, or college. Church, youth ministry activities, and community service are integral to the LIFECYCLES experience, as our goal to develop life skills, teamwork, leadership, followership, hope, and optimism.
Middle Creek Search & Rescue (MIDSAR) is dedicated to providing outstanding search and rescue services to our community. MIDSAR members are trained in grid searching techniques, map and compass skills, crime scene awareness, and interviewing methods. Many members continue their training to include managing search operations, SKYWARN (severe weather spotters for the National Weather Service), and amatuer radio licensing. Some team members choose to specialize in land navagation, emergency communications, search management, or wilderness first aid. While others train and certify their K9 for search and rescue work. Members with horses participate on the equine team.
North Star Initiative provides one of the few 24×7 restoration homes for domestic sex-trafficking survivors in the entire region and one of the only with a Christ-centered focus. Through our holistic, trauma-informed program, our goal is for every survivor we serve to be fully restored so she can return to the community and enjoy a life of sustained independence.
