Is the Hartz PT Running Clinic Right for You?
Running is simple, right? Just put one foot in front of the other.
But what about cadence? Stride length? Pronation? Arm swing? Are you running too many miles โ or ramping up too fast? How do you get ready for a half-marathon without breaking down along the way?
Those are the questions the Hartz PT Running Clinic is built to answer. We give you a deeper look at how you run, give you a running gait analysis and tell you why certain aches keep coming back, and what you can do to keep running strong for the long haul.
What Is the Hartz PT Running Clinic?
The Running Clinic is a comprehensive running analysis led by a licensed physical therapist with experience treating runners of every level and age. This is the piece a shoe store or a fitness tracker can’t give you: not just feedback on your form, but clinical insight into how your mechanics, strength, and training load connect to the injuries you keep running into.
It’s a cash-based service, which simply means it isn’t billed through insurance. In practice, that lets us spend a full, unhurried session focused entirely on you and your running โ no rushing to fit an insurance visit’s constraints.
The fee is $250 for two sessions: a one-hour initial consultation where we capture your analysis and build your plan, plus a 30-minute follow-up to check your progress, refine your cues, and adjust your program.
Each evaluation includes:
- An in-depth video analysis of your running mechanics, with key joint angles and movement patterns
- Individualized running cues and training recommendations
- A targeted home exercise program (HEP) for strength or mobility, if you need one to lower your injury risk
Who Benefits the Most?
Runners with Recurring or “Nagging” Injuries
If you’ve dealt with shin splints, runner’s knee, Achilles or calf pain, hip or low back pain, or plantar fasciitis, these problems are often tied to your running mechanics, load capacity, or training habits. A single hard-to-shake ache can quietly reshape how you move โ and understanding the root cause is usually the difference between managing a flare-up and actually resolving it.
Runners Increasing Mileage or Training for a Race
Maybe you’re training for your first half or full marathon, or ramping back up after time off for illness, surgery, or injury. If so, it’s worth asking:
- Does your stride look the same as it did before?
- Are you compensating without realizing it?
- Is one side quietly doing more of the work?
A running analysis can catch inefficiencies and overload patterns before they turn into injuries โ which is a far better place to start than the sidelines.
Data-Oriented Runners Who Want Real Answers
If you’ve ever wondered “Is my cadence too low?”, “Do I swing my arms enough?”, or “Are my feet doing something strange out there?”, we use video, joint angles, and plain-English explanations to help you actually understand what your body is doing when you run.
What Happens During a Visit?
- Video Running Analysis. We capture multiple views of your stride so we can assess your foot strike, cadence and stride length, trunk and pelvic control, and hip, knee, and ankle mechanics.
- Movement & Strength Assessment. We look at the variables most closely linked to running form and injury risk โ hip and core strength, single-leg control, and any mobility limitations.
- Individualized Feedback & Coaching. You’ll leave with practical running cues and drills, training and workload recommendations, and โ importantly โ clarity on when a “fault” is actually normal and when it’s worth addressing.
- Home Exercise Program. If it’ll help, you’ll get a focused program of strength and mobility exercises chosen specifically to support your running, not generic rehab.
