Neurological Rehabilitaion

Comprehensive Outpatient Occupational & Physical Therapy Services

Regain Function and Independence

We offer comprehensive outpatient neurological services including physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and aquatic therapy in our Lancaster West office. Our multidisciplinary team approach creates a circle of care for our patients to ensure a comprehensive assessment and treatment for anyone experiencing the effects of a variety of neurological disorders. Our clinic has been named a Partner in Care by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and our therapists are currently becoming Vivistim trained, and involved in the Direction Study looking at upper limb spasticity.

Many neurological patients require both PT & OT and our program allows to better service patients and their families and provides the convenience of receiving both services on the same day.   The one-on-one individualized treatment sessions incorporate each patient’s goals, interests, and hobbies to improve safety, independence, and quality of life.

Our staff is a dedicated part of their patients’ care team helping them reach their goals.  Treatments incorporate creative exercise plans and research-based interventions to maximize recovery despite neurological injury.  They also use equipment that has been shown to facilitate recovery including functional electronic stimulation, LiteGait harness system, standing frame, and a home set-up space.  This neuro team is passionate about their patients and make therapy about discovering new possibilities, having fun, and celebrating your success.

Our Neurological Therapy Program Specializes in Treating Patients with the Following Disorders:

The Difference Between OT & PT

Physical Therapy

People with neurological disorders often stop doing activities they love because it is more challenging to move, but it’s important to remember when we don’t use it….we lose it!  Our PT’s have years of experience treating patients with a variety of neurological conditions.  Their passion and creativity in the clinic ensure progress even with the most complicated diagnoses.  Our team can help you with the following:

  • Reducing Fatigue
  • Advancing Stability & Coordination
  • Increasing Endurance
  • Improving Posture & Balance
  • Gait Training
  • Practicing Transfers
  • Regaining Motor Control in Arms and Legs
  • Decreasing Chronic Pain & Neuropathy
  • Vestibular Training
  • Trunk Control / Core Stabilization
  • Equipment Evaluation

Treatment may include:

Trialing AFOs to determine the best fit to improve walking speed and safety.

Personalized moderate to high intensity aerobic training that mobilizes neural mechanisms in the brain which create new pathways to help movement and muscle activation.

Functional Electrical Stimulation to increase muscle recruitment during training which can improve both walking with foot drop and movement after Botox injections.

Use of LiteGait to relearn basic walking skills, increase strength and endurance, and
promote neuroplasticity.

PNF training to improve gait and increase coordination of movements.

Use of external verbal & visual cues during movement exercises to improve balance and overall motor performance.

Occupational Therapy

Our outpatient OT has been treating neurological patients and working with their caregivers for over twenty years.  The focus of OT at our clinic is to improve our patients ability to perform everyday tasks with greater ease and independence.  This is accomplished by working on the following

  • Activity of Daily Living (ADL) Saftey & Independence
  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IDAL)
  • Adaptive or Durable Medical Equipment Education
  • Cognitive / Executive Functioning Skills
  • Sensory / Neuromuscular Re-education
